Patient Access To Medical Records
In accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 patients are entitled to request to see their medical records. The records can be viewed on the computer in the presence of a clinician or a copy can be printed and collected from the practice. The request must be made in writing with a signature to the Director and will be dealt with within 21 days. A doctor may refuse the right to release the medical records of a patient in certain circumstances. A fee of £10 will be charged for a copy of electronic medical records and £50 will be charged for copies of paper records. If you want a clinician to be present when you review your medical record a charge may be made for the time spent with you.
Complaints And Suggestions
We strive hard to ensure that everyone receives quality care and services, we welcome any suggestions or comments you may have that may improve the service offered. Should you feel your needs are not being met we welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you. Please contact the Director who will be happy to deal with your complaint.
We uphold a zero tolerance policy. Any patient who is violent and/or abusive to doctors, health care professionals or any member of staff will not be seen.
Confidentiality – Protection And Use Of Patient Information
Our computer systems are part of the CAA and FAA computer systems and comply with the requirements set out by the ICO and data protection regulations. If you do not want your medical details to be shared on this you are able to opt out insofar as this is compatible with the regulatory requirements of the CAA/FAA and General Medical Council. Everyone working in the practice has a legal duty to keep information about you confidential.
We only ever use or pass on information about you if people have a genuine need and the relevant consent from you or we are directed by law or the courts to disclose information.
Whenever we can we remove details that identify you.
